What are some things to take into consideration before relocating to Dubai?

Dubai is one of the best places to relocate to - over 80% of Dubai’s current residents are expats from all over the world (with Westerners making up a tenth of that). I’ve highlighted a couple of things to take into consideration below.

This is a brief overview, but if you want a more in-depth analysis be sure to check out this Dubai Area Report for more information.

Residency Requirements

· Your passport needs to be valid for at least more six months to enter the country.

· UAE sizing for passport photos is 5x5cm.

· If you’re coming from the US, Australia Canada or most of Europe, you don’t need a pre-entry visa to enter the UAE.

Cost of Living

· A lack of taxation (yes – tax-free earnings!) in Dubai makes residency costs vary dramatically.

· The heat and weather can be dangerous so it’s recommended to consider getting a car to avoid public transportation.

· Food prices are above average.

· Household utilities (water, gas, electricity, etc.) are partially government subsidised so they’re typically below average.

· To buy or drink alcohol you must have a special license.

City of Expats

· Dubai is geared towards expats with European standards of living

· Easy to avoid lengthy and pricey rents, most places come furnished

· Most employment packages include a round trip home per annum

· Although officially a Muslim city, all faiths are welcome

· Tax free earnings – need we say more?

There is good news for you: many persons who live in Dubai are expatriates :)

Tony Coe has already done a pretty good job indicating you what you need to know before relocating to Dubai, but here is something you also must know: hiring a top-notch relocation company is a MUST DO.

Fortunately, Wise Move online can help you with that, you just need to check their international relocation services here. They don’t offer the service directly, but instead allow you to get free quotes from top-notch companies that offer it.

This is the single most important thing, because other than that you will have a very easy time adapting to Dubai: tax-free earnings, plenty of things to do and the wonders of living in one of the most advanced cities in the world :)

Dubai is an expensive city with Medical, housing and schooling are much high than in few western nations

A good medical, schooling and housing should be negotiated prior to accepting any offer of employment.

If undertaking a business plan or project, you need a good market research on the business you plan to do and understand legal and commercial risks.
